A framework for decision support in production scheduling tasks
نویسنده
چکیده
Production scheduling in industrial practice is still primarily a manual task, despite the immense research efforts and the fact that manual scheduling is a very complex task. In this paper, the allocation of tasks between scheduling systems and human schedulers for various types of production units is addressed. The human factor in production scheduling is described using existing models from cognitive psychology. The allocation of scheduling sub-tasks is discussed, based on characteristics of human schedulers and scheduling systems. These sub-tasks are shown to depend on the type of production unit to be scheduled. Four case studies are described to illustrate the theoretical framework.

Production planning and control (PPC) systems have to deal with rising complexity and dynamics. The complexity of planning tasks is due to some existing multiple variables and dynamic factors derived from uncertainties surrounding the PPC. Although literatures on exact scheduling algorithms, simulation approaches, and heuristic methods are extensive in production planning, they seem to be ineff...

The availability of sufficient and economic online capacity to support the network while encountering disturbances and failures leading to supply and demand imbalance has a crucial role in today distribution networks with high share of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), especially Renewable Energy Resources (RESs). This paper proposes a two-stage decision making framework for the Distribution...

Tendency to optimization in last decades has resulted in creating multi-product manufacturing systems. Production planning in such systems is difficult, because optimal production volume that is calculated must be consistent with limitation of production system. Hence, integration has been proposed to decide about these problems concurrently. Main problem in integration is how we can relate pro...
متن کاملDecision Support Tool for Dynamic Workforce Scheduling in Manufacturing Environments
Scheduling for production in manufacturing environments requires an immense amount of planning. A large number of factors such as part availability, production cost, space constraints and labor supply must be taken into account. Considering these factors, tasks are scheduled into shifts and allocated the required human resources. However, when actual production begins, the original schedule mus...
متن کاملAn Effective Task Scheduling Framework for Cloud Computing using NSGA-II
Cloud computing is a model for convenient on-demand user’s access to changeable and configurable computing resources such as networks, servers, storage, applications, and services with minimal management of resources and service provider interaction. Task scheduling is regarded as a fundamental issue in cloud computing which aims at distributing the load on the different resources of a distribu...
